The new season of American Idol is well on it’s way to producing a new star, but it really is amazing when you account for all of the talent discovered from the runners-up on the show. In some cases, the runners-up went on to have very big careers. Take the case of Danny Gokey. I truly thought Danny had the goods to go all the way, but when you get into the top 10, it can be so subjective when you consider we pick the winner by phone and text voting.

Danny has a soleful, emotional voice and you could call his music Pop or even Country crossover. Idol did focus alot on his history with his wife passing…no doubt the emotional angle probably helped him. But, his voice and talent stand alone with his new stuff and I hope he does well because he’s the real deal. Danny says “I don’t live in the past. I live in the ‘now’ … in the future … and in the dreams that I have. I know that my best days really are ahead of me.”

Check out Danny Gokey’s single ”My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me” from his album “My Best Days” due out March 2nd. It’s cool he is leading with a very positive track too!

I Miss Paula!

Posted in: O.D.

American Idol is in major trouble. Season 9 could be the last season worth watching because we have lost all of the entertaining people on the panel. Producers couldn’t come to a deal with Paula this year…so she is out. Then Simon announced that he is done after this year. Why watch anymore? Everytime I laughed at something said or some stupid stunt done, it always was Paula, Simon or Paula and Simon together behind it. I personally am not nuts about Kara. I respect her as a songwriter and her years in the biz, but does anybody really care. The contestants in Boston on the premiere of season 9 were even mistakingly calling Kara Paula. Case and point!

Predition: When Simon Cowell returns to Fox with HIS show “X Factor”, Paula Abdul will be there to greet America. we shall see!

So my Daughter’s birthday is this week…not going to tell you how old she is. She has been asking us to buy her a phone. She says that all of her friends have phones and they think it’s weird we haven’t got her one so she can text her friends. Now if I do it…it will be like one of those add a line deals with texting. What is the right age to give her one? I want to know what you think.

So “New Moon” is here! I have never seen such an anticipated movie series in my life. It’s slightly reminiscent of the Harry Potter Series but more grown up with more adult situations…which brings me to my next question. How far will they take Bella and Edward’s relationship? Will it turn into a full blown romance with love scenes. I get it if they don’t want to make the movie too steamy, but i’ve seen some pretty hot stuff on network TV in prime time. I believe a lot of fans are waiting and hoping for that hot and heavy scene! Will it ruin the story? Maybe we’ll find out in June with a surprise in the next installment of Twilight. Enjoy the filck!

Rihanna really has been through alot. I know…the first thing you probably are thinking is “How can things be tough for her, she’s on top of the World in her career.”

Yes, she is the biggest Pop Star to come along in the last 10 years, but it doesn’t end there. Here is a woman who is 21 years old and if you followed her rise to stardom…she came from nowhere to the top! That much power alone could send someone off the deep end getting mixed up in everything that can kill you! But not Rihanna, she has focused on career and has a very clean image which is a great role model for young people.

This whole thing with Chris Brown had thrown her into a major dive. Her first love, her first major public incident and her tempation to run back to him. She could have been weak and done the wrong things, but her interview on 20/20 blew me away. I was so impressed with her balance, her vision, her maturity and most of all her understanding that she is a role model for millions.

Rihanna deserves all the success she has and will have!
