If rocker Bret Michaels‘ recovery from a brain hemorrhage continues to go well, he could be back on tour as soon as May 26, his road manager said in a statement.

“Doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday,” the manager, Janna Elias, said in the statement on Michaels’ Web site, CNN.com reports.

“Provided there are no further complications or setback,” Michaels plans to resume his tour May 26 in Fort Smith, Ark., the statement said.

A week ago, the former Poison frontman was rushed to a hospital after complaining of severe headaches. Doctors discovered massive bleeding in his brain, and, according to health updates on Michaels’ Web site, it took time to pinpoint the source of the bleeding.

Hundreds of frenzied teenagers mobbed 16-year-old pop star Justin Bieber and knocked down his mother as he arrived in New Zealand, stealing his hat as he was rushed through the airport to escape the fans.

The heartthrob Canadian singer tweeted his 2.1 million fans Wednesday to report: “Finally got to New Zealand last night. The airport was crazy. Not happy that someone stole my hat and knocked down my mama. Come on people.”

The star’s mother, Pattie Mallette, tweeted that she was “OK” after being pushed over by rampaging fans at Auckland Airport late Tuesday. “Thanks for all ur support!! I’m ok thank you!!!,” she wrote.

It was his mother’s posting of videos of Bieber singing on YouTube that first caught the attention of the music industry. His song “Baby” became a top-ten hit on iTunes earlier this year, and his popularity has grown to teen idol status.

Before arriving at the airport, the blond-haired singer had told fans that he wanted to sign autographs and have pictures taken. But police and security had to shut the opportunity down because fans were pushing.

The frenzy followed similar scenes in Sydney, Australia, earlier in the week, where police canceled a Bieber concert after surging crowds crushed some fans. The most serious injury was a fractured kneecap.

A similar situation occurred at a mall in Long Island, New York, in November. Bieber’s free concert was canceled at the 11th hour when hundreds of fans stampeded after a reported sighting of the teen star.

In New Zealand, a mob of mainly teen girls screamed their welcome and swarmed toward Bieber at the airport. Escorted by security, police and minders, Bieber quickly left the airport out a side door.

A waiting black SUV whisked him away, leaving some fans sobbing with disappointment.

After Bieber’s departure, teen Tory Shaffett said she was having trouble breathing.

“Oh my god, he was so amazing and beautiful. I can’t believe I saw him,” she told reporters.

Bieber bungy jumped off Auckland Harbor Bridge on Wednesday and posted footage on his Twitter account.

Later Wednesday, Bieber wore an All Blacks rugby jersey and played drums at a music lesson with a dozen teens at Strathallan High School for girls, before belting out half a dozen songs at an impromptu concert in front of 500 students.

He sang “One Time,” “Never Let You Go,” “You Smile,” “That Should Be Me, Baby” and “Favorite Girl” to his teenage girl audience.

He also had a request for their next music lesson.

“The next song you need to learn is ‘One’ by Metallica. You guys keep rocking out,” The “Stuff” news website quoted Bieber telling the students, aged from 11 to 17.

“I’ll definitely be back,” he added.

People

PEOPLE.com) — In the past five days, Bret Michaels was rushed to a hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage, underwent tests while remaining in critical but stable condition and found out he had a side effect that could lead to seizures.

But there’s a good chance the rocker won’t remember any of it, says one expert.

“Most people [who suffer this type of brain hemorrhage] don’t remember most of their hospitalization — they have no recollection,” Dr. Melvin Field, director of the Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute, tells PEOPLE.

Still, Michaels is conscious, talking very slowly and in good spirits, his rep tells PEOPLE.

Doctors usually “give patients some sedation so they don’t have pain, and that can kind of make it so they don’t remember too much,” says Field, adding that having blood in the brain can also cause some confusion.

Michaels will remain under the care of doctors, who discovered the Celebrity Apprentice contestant has a side-effect called hyponatremia,  a lack of sodium in blood that can cause seizures. His rep says he has not had any seizures.

Field says the hyponatremia shouldn’t be considered a setback. “It’s relatively common [in these cases],” he says. “I don’t think it’s going to cause permanent problems. It’s almost like a small road-bump — like having a fever.”

While Field says the rocker, 47, who suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage on April 22, will most likely have “a pretty good headache” during his recovery and be in the hospital three to four weeks, he shouldn’t have any other significant side effects.

“If he came into the hospital awake and talking with a bad headache, there is a very good possibility he’ll leave the hospital the way he came,” says Field. “He should be fine.”

Last week I got a clean bill of health from my heart surgeon.  I’ve been feeling great, but still needed to know whether everything inside was working the way it was supposed to after last summer’s heart surgery.  After getting the good news, I signed up for a 5K, the 5th Annual Run for the Red in the Poconos May 16.  This event raises money for the Red Cross of Monroe County.

Medical tests show Bret Michaels has suffered a setback in his recovery from a brain hemorrhage, according to a statement posted on his official website Tuesday.

Despite the development, “doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery,” the statement said.

The rock singer and reality TV star suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and was hospitalized Friday.

“Test results indicate a set back in Bret Michaels’ condition, a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia, a lack of sodium in the body which leads to seizures,” said the statement posted by road manager Janna Elias.

Michaels “is responding well to tests and treatments,” she said.

“Even though today was a minor set back Doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday,” Elias wrote.
