What a week. It’s been one of those weeks full of ups and downs. There was no happy mediums whatsoever. One of my best friends is having a hard time in general… just with life choices, figuring out what’s next, figuring out the whole “what makes you happy” stuff, and trying to figure out how to cope with being at a crossroads stage in her life. The crossroads are my favorite, so of course I’m the ‘go-to’ friend. I’m the friend everyone turns to when they need a pick me up, some tough love, and inspiration. I’m happy to be that friend… it’s just time consuming. Not only is that friend having a quarter life crisis, but another best friend is questioning a completely DIFFERENT set of life choices, hundreds of miles away. Each night this week I tried to be the listening ear and helpful voice that each friend needed in a different way and let me tell you – it’s exhausting! I could REALLY use a glass of wine tonight! Oh, maybe i’ll go to the store to see if they carry that ZERO calorie wine! To be honest, hearing about all of the drama my friends have in their lives makes me really appreciate my life. It’s been an amazing week at work and I found out i’m going to get to interview some of my FAVORITE bands in the next couple of weeks. It’s so weird because just 10 years ago, I was 13, drooling over NSYNC, and never imagined that 10 years later I would get to do fun and creative things with these very same celebrities. I really am blessed. It’s funny because the road to get here wasn’t long, but it was tough. I guess hard work and dedication really do pay off. When you’re living it and you’re in the middle of it all, you take it as it comes and do your best, hoping it’s enough. Now that I reflect on these amazing opportunities and this crazy thing I get to call my career, it’s pretty friggin awesome. Sick really. We’re interviewing American Idol’s David Archuletta in a couple hours … Jeff calls him the “Man Boy” because he looks like a little kid. I’m going to try and get him to let me read his text messages. Let’s see how this goes! Have a fabulous weekend! xo I can’t wait until Sunday – a trip to Target, cleaning, and lounging … ahh! I hope the weather is nice – maybe i’ll get daring and throw a car wash into the mix!

We really need to clean our office. It’s pretty disgusting and I just turned to Jeff and said, “Let’s do a little cleaning today!”

… he thinks we don’t have “time” to clean … I’m going to take this task into my own hands. It’s gross how much JUNK we have scattered around the office.

By junk I mean … today I found GIN AND TONIC scented perfume. DIRT scented perfume … balloons, tupperware containers, cans of hairspray, and papers … everywhere. Jeff made fun of all of the JUNK IN MY TRUNK, but our office is MUCH worse!!!

I just glanced up on top of my computer moniter … can ya guess what’s there?

A coffe mug that says “Creativi-tea,”(cute huh? Thanks Dana!) a little zebra that says “You can agree with me or be wrong,”(Thanks Alicia!) and a little stuffed dog that Jill gave me for Valentine’s day… yes … trinket gifts. Our office looks like an 11 year old’s BEDROOM.

I’m straightening up. Now. I think it might make me feel a little better.

Ahh Thriving Ivory just left the station and i’m not gonna lie, they were probably my favorite group to hear in the Spotlight Lounge so far. It’s really awesome when artists come in for these intimate little shows. It’s just an awesome experience when they play for a select group of 40 or so people. Not only were the guys really cool and down to earth, but so talented. Jeff always makes fun of the lead singer’s voice, but to be honest, I love it. It’s different. It’s a great thing that he doesn’t sound like anyone else and it sets them apart. He has a unique sound that grabs you.

I’ve finally decided that ‘For Heaven’s Sake’ is my favorite track off of the cd.

…Make every door you walk through a living work of art…

I love that. There’s a couple lines in every song they do that stand out. That’s the best. Grab their CD if you haven’t already, you won’t regret it!

I love wine… but I hate the 100 or so calories in each glass. Because really, who can just have 1 glass. 1 usually turns into 2 … and after 2, i’m down for a shot. The calories just keep adding up. Umm hello … this is probably the most exciting thing i’ve heard all day. ZERO CALORIE WINE. Umm yes, you read that correctly. 0. Zip. Nada. AWESOME! Read on…

Sunday, Slender wine, a zero calorie wine, was handed out at the Oscars in the presenter gift bags. Bottled by the Chateau Thomas Winery in Indiana, celebrities had the chance to get wasted without growing too wide for their couture dresses! The winery boasts that Slender has no sugar, no carbs and no fat and took 2 years to develop. Blogs suggest it has zero calories.

Zero calories!?

This wine sounds like a dream come true, but I just don’t understand how on earth Slender’s claims could be possible. How can there be no carbs? And no calories? (Sugar alcohol is considered a carb and is metabolized the same as a real sugar.) But the makers continue to tout the amazing benefits of Slender: it has no calories (in the sweetener), has a 0 Glycemic index, contains no carbohydrates, has the identical flavor spectrum as Sucrose (sugar), has no aftertaste, does not affect insulin levels, and has zero side effects (because it cannot be metabolized by the human body).

Mmm

It is basically every college girls’ dream: the ability to drink without all those pesky calories? And for only $10.99 on their website you can try this god-sent beverage. I’m ordering a case tonight. Heaven. Let’s hope it’s fabulous.

I remember being a kid and seeing how annoyed my mom got when someone would call her “Ma’am.” It made her feel older than she was. I sort of understood, but didn’t really see the big deal. During college when I waited tables and bartended, I made an effort not to call a woman “ma’am.” Even “miss” sounded harsh. I pretty much avoided having to address anyone as anything, while still being polite.

… today … I finally understand maybe not WHY women get pissed when someone calls them “ma’am” or “miss” … but I do understand the feeling of ANNOYANCE when a worker of some sort who doesn’t know you AT ALL addresses you by one of those words.

All it took was a 15 year old calling me “hun” to make it all click. She made my non-fat mocha, smiled, tipped her head, and said, “Here you go, hun!” “Hun?!” Ew. That’s like when girls use the word “sweetie” too often. It just sent chills up my spine. “Hun?” I don’t like it when guys call me that, I don’t like it if a friend calls me that, and I certainly just don’t like it when someone I don’t know calls me that. “Hun” to me, is the equivalent of “Ma’am” to my mother.

It’s one of those words that screams “I’M TRYING REALLY HARD TO BE PLEASANT, FRIENDLY, AND PERSONABLE … PLEASE LIKE ME!” Atleast she didn’t call me “Ma’am.” Now THAT would be the day that I say something BACK to her. Dare me!

Happy Fat Tuesday! I’m probably going to enjoy a margarita in the comfort of my own place, watching the President’s Address and The Real Housewives of New York City…

Tomorrow night is Thriving Ivory @ Tinks and I can’t wait. God I love them. Hmm … I think i’m going to go stalk their myspace and decide which one I want to make out with. xo

Yesterday was the big Bridal Show and whoa … I had NO IDEA that there were SO many couples engaged, right now. It was pretty crazy. It was the biggest bridal show we’ve ever had and holy – there were brides EVERYWHERE. None of my close close friends are married and the ones that are, were married before I met them. It was really awesome to see the friends of the brides there, checking everything out with them, and turning into a girly day. Don’t get me wrong, there were TONS of guys there too. I always assumed that the bride to be would go to things like bridal shows with there mom, sister, maybe a friend … but there were SO MANY grooms there too. Love is in the air …

For some people atleast. For most of my friends, things are pretty rocky in the relationship department these days. I am proudly drama free, but i’m starting to wonder if I’m going to be one of those people that end’s up perpetually single because they just love their single life so much and don’t want to budge. Let’s hope that’s not the case. I’d rather just like to stick to the whole FATE school of thought and just enjoy life as it comes at me … or as I plow through it!

This is the happy couple that won our ULTIMATE DREAM WEDDING… What an amazing feeling to win that … I was pretty much shaking in excitement FOR them. They won it all. The venue, the DJ, the limo, the tux, her dress, covered all of the bridal party, the flowers, the rings, the honeymoon, the cake, the photographer … EVERYTHING. Pretty incredible. I can’t wait to see pics from the wedding!

I’m newly obsessed with Thriving Ivory. I get a little crazy with new bands. I fall in love with them. First it was Saving Abel a little over a year ago, now it’s Thriving Ivory. I first heard ‘Angels on the Moon’ on MTV and I loved the song. I thought I understood the song, now that I looked up the lyrics, not so much. I’m LOVING this other song on their cd called ‘FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE,” but to be totally honest, I’m not sure what’s it about. Take a stab at it. I’m lost … but I love the first few lines … I love “Make every door you walk through a living work of art.”

I’m not gonna lie. I fall in love with song, think I relate to them, then try and figure out what the heck the song is about, and realize i’m totally clueless. I do LOVE this song though … check out ‘ALIEN” from Thriving Ivory too … ahh these guys are awesome.

These are the lyrics to FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE … you can hear it on my myspace page … myspace.com

Pull yourself together
Before you set yourself apart
Make every door you walk through
A living work of art
For Heaven’s Sake

For heaven’s sake there’s more at stake
Than we may ever learn
More footsteps to hold onto and corners to be turned
Like weeping violins, you tremble and you shake
Don’t you dwell on the future for it’s miles away
For Heaven’s Sake

Your talkin’ in your sleep
Like there’s nothing more to lose
Well hey you know you’re not alone
Cause honey I get lonely too
And it feels so familiar, must have been here before
Singin’ I don’t wanna go but I don’t wanna hurt anymore
For Heaven’s Sake

And I know and I know and I know
That it ain’t always fair
You’re gonna have to let it go
No you’re not moving anywhere

Pull yourself together
Before you set yourself apart
Make every door you walk through
A living work of art
For Heaven’s Sake

And I know and I know and I know
That you’ve had more than you can bare
But you’re gonna have to let it go
No you’re not moving anywhere
For Heaven’s Sake

Ok, maybe “everyone” isn’t a fair or true statement, but it’s pretty insane how many people I know that are currently expecting. It started with one of my closest friends who I talk to every single day, then I found out one of my best friends from high school is cooking up a bun in the oven, then my cousin calls to tell me she is having her first baby. For all 3 of them, it’s their first child and they are ALL DUE in JULY. Was there nothing better to do in November? Everybody was getting busy! We did have a colder than normal winter, maybe they were just getting cozy to keep warm … one thing leads to another … oh whatever!  It’s crazy because i’m really close to all 3 of these ladies and it’s going to be a pretty busy July.

It’s really exciting to hear their plans for the nursery, baby showers, baby names … but it’s so weird how our conversations have so quickly turned from “OMG remember that night  in Denver that we drank 4 bottles of champagne, just me and you, and ended up bawling our eyes out because we were drunk and stupid?” to … gross conversations about the things that are happening to their body, stories about the baby taking them over, and things like “I puked all morning” … and not because she was hungover, because a baby invaded her body. It’s amazing how life changes. It changes people, it changes our outlook on life, it changes our focus, it changes everything … in such a natural, perfect, progressive way. I’m really thankful to have these AMAZING women in my life and i’m really excited to be able to kind of share this experience with them. (God knows I’m certainly not ready to bring a little life into the word anytime soon, so thank god for friends who are!) I’m MORE than happy to help throw the showers, buy the gifts, and play the silly Baby Shower games. Although … I refuse to play the “taste and guess the baby food game.” No thanks!

Guys take so much pride in their cars. Women, not so much. We’d much rather have a tidy apartment, fabulous purse, and perfect hair … we could care less about having our car detailed and a clean ride. Women seem to keep so much CRAP in their car. In my case, I put things in my trunk and never take them out.  I’ll go to Target, by a case of water or soda and then leave it in the trunk. It’s a terrible habit. Really just laziness. Check out the video… it’s sick.

Last night’s American Idol pissed me off. Why are they changing the entire format of the show? Sending home 9 out of 12 people just seems WRONG. It really does. I’m pretty sure they don’t usually do that, although to be totally honest, I boycotted Idol last year until they got to the Top 4. There’s something about the annoying way Ryan Seacrest says “This … is American Idol” that bothers me to the point that when I know he’s about to say it, I try and flip to a new channel. Real World was kind of disappointing too, until the boys put rats in Sarah’s bed. PRICELESS. Brings me back to Freshmen year of college. Gosh, we pulled some pretty fabulous pranks on eachother. I actually just reconnected with a friend from college yesterday. I had the biggest crush on him since we met the FIRST day we moved into the dorms. Once I got to know him better I realized he was definitely friend material, but crushing is so much fun! He’s a recording artist now! We went to a really artsy private college, so all of my college buds are into theater, music, or media. He’s on ITUNES and everything! How awesome!  Freshmen year was the only year I lived in the dorms and HOLY, we did some crazy things to eachother. The guy I was just talking about, Chris, was so GOOFY at the time. He would carry his camera around EVERYWHERE and act like a fool … he was usually the one pranking everyone else, so one day me and Samara, the girl that lived next to my dorm (who is know living in some random country as a club DJ and performing in a theater group) set  up a boobie trap outside of Chris’ door. Omg and now that I think back, i’m pretty sure we were VERY immature and used feminine hygeine products … yup, we definitely did. I have pictures. Wow. I’m glad I grew up a little since then. But man, it was funny.

Thank god for Facebook. I would have totally lost touch with so many people i’ve met along the way without these wonderful social networking sites.

Oh, whoa, wait. That reminds me. My mom is now not only on Myspace … but now FACEBOOK! She’s become quite the little Facebooker and even UPDATES her STATUS! Yesterday at 8am she wrote, “Paula is contemplating the meaning life, it’s too early for this.”

Really?! Holy. Then I commented on a pic in her album titled VEGAS. We went to Vegas together for Christmas and one of the pictures of her and I had a pretty inappropriate title below it. Ohhh… like mother, like daughter. I am definitely a product of my environment. Thank god. I love her! I wonder how many other people’s parents are on Facebook and STATUS UPDATING more often than their kid?! I’m just praying she doesn’t join some “freaky” kind of group like … “Rhode Islanders into S&M” now THAT would be TOO MUCH INFORMATION! Ha!
